Product Update: Hammer Cat 1/60 Gundam Virtue (Nadleeh) Full Resin Kit – Limited Exclusive Edition

Product Update: Hammer Cat 1/60 Gundam Virtue (Nadleeh) Full Resin Kit – Limited Exclusive Edition

After a long waiting time for the Hammer Cat 1/60 Gundam Virtue (Nadleeh) Full Resin Kit – Limited Exclusive Edition, recently we’ve got an update from the Hammer Cat Studio regarding the changes they’ve made for the final product, and here are the changes:

  1. No More LED Lighting System (Cancelled)

The reason why they decided to cancel the LED lighting system, it’s because it’s too hard to cast the resin kit when the LED lighting system is being apart and it has caused many problems during the casting which causing the constant delay in progress. Therefore, they’ve decided to cancel the LED lighting System to speed up the entire progress.

  1. The Hair For The Nadleeh Gundam Will Be Delayed, Even If The Kit Has Released

Hammer Cat Studio considers the Nadleeh Gundam’s prototype material for the hair and its design is hard (or not as friendly) to build by the customers/builders. Therefore, they decided to wait for the release of the Bandai MG Virtue, refer to their material or whatever needed to cast it on a 1/60 scale. So, Hammer Cat would release the full kit in these two months, except for the hair part. And backup the hair parts whenever they’re ready which might takes another 2-3 months to proceed.

From there, we would like to know how our pre-ordered customers would like to proceed with their order for the Hammer Cat 1/60 Gundam Virtue (Nadleeh) Full Resin Kit? Would you like us to have the full kit to send to you first, OR to wait for hair and send everything together, OR to cancel the deal entirely with Hammer Cat since they’ve made the changes that are against what we pre-order for in the first place?

  1. The Delay Would Be Extend

As mentioned above, the kit would be released in these two months, plus the hair part would take another 2-3 months. So, there’s a delay up there.

Lastly, we’ll contact you via email to ask for your feedback. If you decided to cancel the pre-order and get a refund, we’d proceed with the refund via coupon code only. Hope you understand.

Announcement on Adjustment to European Union (EU) Value-Added Tax (VAT) and Import One Stop Shop (IOSS)

Announcement on Adjustment to European Union (EU) Value-Added Tax (VAT) and Import One Stop Shop (IOSS)

Starting from July 1, 2021, the European Union (EU) will apply new VAT rules for all goods selling to European countries, you can read the change applies on the image below.

EU Tax and IOSS Update

Would Museigen Hobby Register The IOSS?

For us, Museigen Hobby as a small business, we decided NOT to register the IOSS, at least this year (2021) we’ll not make any change on our checkout process to charge any VAT from our European customers.

As a result, if you’re living in Europe, all of your purchases in Museigen Hobby will be subject to VAT charged by your country, plus the customs clearance fee charged by the transporter.

What Is An IOSS And What Is It For?

The Import One-Stop-Shop (IOSS) is the electronic portal business designed for online businesses outside of the EU to comply with the EU VAT on imported goods.

The IOSS allows online business sellers who selling goods to buyers in the EU to declare and pay the VAT to the tax authorities, instead of making the buyer pay the VAT at the moment the goods are imported into the EU as it was previously the case (for products over 22 EUR).

You can read more detail by visiting the Import One Stop Shop (IOSS) Page

What Are The Advantages Of The IOSS?

The IOSS facilitates the collection, declaration, and payment of VAT for sellers that are making distance sales of imported goods to buyers in the EU.

Based on what we understand, IOSS is designed for the global online business sellers to collect, declare, and making payments of VAT for the buyer who purchase goods outside of the EU.

Therefore, online sellers need to charge the VAT (based on the buyer’s country of EU) during the checkout process. And therefore, the buyers would only get charged VAT at the time of purchase and do not need to face any surprise fees when the goods are delivered.

If the seller is not registered in the IOSS, the buyer has to pay the VAT and usually a customs clearance fee charged by the transporter.

Why Change The Rule?

These new rules will:

  • Ensure that VAT is paid where consumption of goods and services takes place;
  • Create a uniform and transparent VAT regime for cross-border supplies of goods and services;
  • Re-establish fair competition between European and foreign e-commerce market players, as well as between e-commerce and traditional shops.

What Will Happens Since July 1, 2021, And Does It Affects You?

Here are the answers I get directly from the official EU Consumer…

The answer is yes and no:

  • ‘YES’, because you are positively affected as an EU citizen. Under the new system, benefits range from less tax fraud, more public revenue being raised as fair taxation becomes the new norm and making trade more competitive. EU environmental and health standards is also safeguarded. So, choose to buy from VAT compliant sellers or marketplaces/platforms, as the VAT you pay will serve to build roads, hospitals, schools and will help the COVID-19 recovery efforts.
  • However, the answer is also ’NO’, because you do not have to do anything directly and you are not obliged to change your shopping habits or where you buy from. But you should be aware the new VAT e-commerce rules are meant to bring transparency, simplify procedures and ensure fair taxation for all providers. That is because previously, non-EU businesses could avoid paying VAT and did not have VAT obligations in the EU – meaning their prices were lower. As a result, EU businesses were disadvantaged.

Due to lack of transparency, you, as the consumer, were sometimes faced with surprise costs or charges to be paid at customs on imported goods. Since 1 July 2021 though, the price you pay can be the final price, with no further calls at importation for VAT or other charges. This is only when you buy goods from a seller or an electronic interface registered in the IOSS.

If they do not register in the IOSS, you will have to pay the VAT and possibly other postal/carrier charges when goods are imported.

!!!NOTE: The VAT and possible other postal/courier charges will also have to be paid for goods ordered before 1 July but imported/delivered on or after this date. We recommend EU consumers take this into account when ordering goods from outside the EU and seek more information from the postal operators regarding these additional charges!!!

You can read more detail by visiting the EU Consumer Page.

Some Exceptions Apply

Online sellers do not need to charge VAT on sales of goods in the following circumstances:

  • You sell several goods to the same buyer, and these goods are shipped in a package amounting to more than EUR 150. These goods will be taxed at importation in the EU Member State;
  • Your distance sales of goods are facilitated by an electronic interface such as a marketplace or platforms. In this situation, the electronic interface is responsible for the VAT due.

Conclusion

With the effects of the new VAT rules starting from July 1, 2021, as an EU buyer, you must be aware that no matter how much the value of the goods is, there’ll be a charge of VAT, processing, and import fee when the goods hit the EU customs.

You’ll need to clear the payments prior to receiving the goods from the customs office.

International Shipping 2021

International Shipping 2021

Since the outbreak of the global pandemic Covid-19, our Standard Shipping Services, EMS, International Air Parcel Service, and Surface Parcel Service were forced to suspending all international shipments from Malaysia.

Unfortunately, more than half a year is passing by, there’s still no update on when they’ll be back to the operation.

Therefore, the only way we could ship internationally is through Express Shipping Services. During these few months, we were constantly finding and testing new express shipping services in order to get one that’s in a great shipping rate while could properly handle and deliver the parcels to our customers.

The Shipping Services We Use

Now, we ended up constantly using the TNT Express and the Aramax Express because comparing to the others, the system of these two Express Shipping Services are more stable in handling our parcels to our customers, and the shipping rate is much reasonable at the moment.

We were once recommended and using SF Express for orders specifically from the United States, Canada, and Philipines because of its shipping fee rate. But they’ve drastically increased their shipping rate for the new year of 2021 so we have stopped using it for now.

However, we’ll keep an eye on this service because they did a great job when we were using them and if they do have any promotional period or the price becomes reasonable again, we’ll definitely get back to them.

Since then, we have also tried to use Janio Express but the co-op has failed from the first transaction we made with them. You can read more about our experience with Janio Express here.

The Prohibited Items To The Express Shipping Services

So now you know that the only way we could ship internationally is through Express Shipping Services, then you got to know that there are some prohibited items to all Express Shipping Services.

The prohibited items included paints, glues, primers, thinner, powder, etc. So, if you’re placing an order with any of the prohibited items and select “Express Shipping” to checkout, we’ll unable to proceed further.

In this case, you’ll be given two options in our email, 1.) Waiting for the Surface Parcel Service (the only way we could ship the prohibited items) to get back to the operation to proceed further – if you’re going for this option, we’ll secure your order and notify you once the shipping service becomes available to proceed further and 2.) Cancel the order and fully refund.

Either way, we’re happy to proceed with your order as you wish and your understanding would be greatly appreciated.

“What If, I’d Like To Use The Standard Shipping Service To Ship My Orders?”

Lastly, if you’re willing to wait for the Standard Shipping Service to get back to the operation to ship your orders. Simply select “Combine Shipping’ as your shipping option to checkout and leave us a note on the checkout page like “I’m willing to wait for the Standard shipping Service to resume to proceed further” or anything related.

With your note, we’ll secure your order(s) and notify you once the service is back.

Otherwise, if you’re just selected “Combine Shipping” without any notes, we’ll assume that you’d like to combine other orders, and not about waiting for the Standard Shipping Services to get back to the operation. So, we’ll not notify you once the Standard Shipping Service is back.

Our Experience With Janio Express: We Decided To Stop Using It

Our Experience With Janio Express: We Decided To Stop Using It

Since the last blog post, it’s been a while that we haven’t updated our blog.

Today, I’d like to share our experience with Janio Express and why we’ve decided to no longer using it.

As you might not know, we’re not dealing with the courier services directly, except the SF Express. We’re using a 3rd-party courier platform to quote the necessary shipping fees, manage and arrange the shipments.

The 3rd-party courier platform will provide the available shipping services based on the receiver’s destination and the sender’s destination. From there, we noticed that Janio Express has a really good shipping rate for most countries so we started to have this option available for our customers.

And the sad news begins from the first order we’ve placed with them…

Starting from 11/1/2021, Janio Express should come to our store to pick up the first orders we’ve made to transit further. But… no one is coming so we started to report the case and asking for a re-schedule for the next day.

On 12/1/2021, we were waiting for the whole day at our store. The same thing happened, no one comes for the pick-up and not even a phone call to confirm that they’ve received our request. We continued to report the case and asked for a re-schedule for the next day with another new order we have for tomorrow.

The same things happen until 14/1/2021, we wait for the Janio Express to come for the pick up while keep reporting the case, and hopefully, we could successfully co-operate with them since their shipping rate is great for our customers during this global pandemic.

But 4 days passing by from the first order we made with them until today there’s no response, no email, no phone call on what happening. Therefore, we decided to cancel all the orders you’ve made with them and switch to another available shipping service, Aramax Express, or TNT Express.

Based on these few days of experience, we decided to no longer have this option available again to avoid any problematic shipment happened. We believe their system is still being very unstable and we afraid they couldn’t handle our orders properly and deliver the parcel to our customers as securely as promised.

So, for all customers who have paid for the Janio Express as their shipping service, we’ll email you the updates and hope you understand.

Disclaimer: This blog post is all about our personal experience with the Janio Express in Malaysia and the decision we made based on our experiences with them. We’re not sure how’s their performance and deliverability in different areas so we don’t recommend taking our experience as your experience of using this service.

If you’ve used this service before and have any comments or feedback, it’d be much appreciated if you could leave us a comment below and share your experience since we’re open to any courier service that has a good shipping rate so our customers could save some shipping fee and get their parcel to deliver securely and safely.
